U.S. Embassy Statement (Nov. 23, 2005)

As a result of media reports on Tuesday, November 22, the U.S. Embassy learned that it was allegedly among the debtors to the Albanian Energy Corporation (KESH).

It is the policy and practice of the U.S. Embassy to pay all its debts in a timely manner.

Part of the figure published in the press represents the most recent invoice, which is not yet due. The U.S. Embassy will pay this invoice as due. The remaining amount is the subject of ongoing discussions between the U.S. Embassy and KESH. We look forward to resolving this issue shortly.
