U.S. Statement on the Adriatic Charter (May 2, 2005)
The United States applauds the ongoing work of Albania, Croatia, and Macedonia within the Charter, which is playing an important role in enhancing cooperation and stability in the region. We are confident that this meeting will further deepen your collaboration to great and mutual benefit. In that respect, the United States looks forward to the Adriatic Charter’s group deployment of the joint medical team to ISAF in the near future.
We also welcome the presence and participation of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro at this meeting. Their engagement reinforces our shared goals of broadening and deepening the regional relationship.
The United States fully supports the Adriatic Charter, and we would be pleased to host a meeting of the Adriatic Charter members later this year to consider other areas for regional cooperation.
The United States is committed to continuing to work with Albania, Croatia and Macedonia on your paths toward NATO membership as you fulfill the reform measures defined in your Membership Action Plans and pursue collective peace and security in the region.
