U.S. Ambassador's Fund For Cultural Preservation Call For Proposals For 2013 (October 24, 2012)

American Embassy Tirana is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the 2013 U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP). Deadline for applications is November 16, 2012.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) was established by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in 2000.
The purpose of the Ambassadors Fund is to help other countries preserve cultural heritage and demonstrate U.S. respect for other cultures. Since its creation, the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation has provided financial support to more than 700 cultural preservation projects in more than 100 countries.
Qualified entities may apply for support. As defined by the AFCP program, qualified entities are reputable and accountable non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations that are able to demonstrate that they have the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage. AFCP gives top priority to project activities that are appropriate and in keeping with international standards for the preservation of cultural heritage.

AWARD SELECTION CRITERIA

All the proposals will be rated based on the quality, soundness and comprehensiveness of the project and budget; the urgency of the proposed project; the quality and quantity of supporting materials, such as resumes of the key project participants; images of the resource; and notices of official permission from the responsible resource steward, such as a ministry of culture. Proposals should also indicate the previous experience and capacity to conduct the projects. The best proposal(s) will be chosen by the U.S. Ambassador to Albania and then forwarded to AFCP for selection of a possible winner. An award for Albania for 2013, if approved, will be announced during the summer of 2013.
If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please email TiranaAFCP@state.gov for additional information.  All applications must be received by the November 16th deadline.
