Non-Immigrant Visas
Invitation Letters and Affidavits of Support
There is no standard letter of invitation that may be prepared on behalf of an individual who is applying for a visitor visa to the United States. However, if a person invites an individual in the United States, he or she may choose to write an invitation letter and may explain the purpose of the visit and any arrangements that are being taken for the individual that he or she will be hosting. Such letters are not required, but can be used in support of the visa application. Any invitation letter must be sent to the visa applicant and when he or she applies for the visa, he/she may present it at the time of his/her visa interview appointment. The applicant bears the burden of presenting any invitation letters and/or affidavits in support of their visa applications at the time of their interview.
However, please understand that this cannot guarantee visa issuance; visa applicants must qualify for the visa according to their own circumstances, not on the basis of an American sponsor's assurance.
For information on how to request an appointment to apply for a visitor visa, the applicant(s) may visit the How to Apply page.
