Deputy Chief of Mission
Deborah A. Jones
Deborah Jones became the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania in June 2009.
Her previous assignments include a State Department Pearson Fellowship in the office of Senator Edward M. Kennedy from late 2007 through early 2009. In this capacity, she worked on national security and foreign policy issues. Prior to this assignment she served as the Public Affairs Officer at U.S. embassies in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 2005 until 2007; in Skopje, Macedonia from 2002 until 2004; and in Tirana, Albania from 2000 until 2002. She also served as Information Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria from 1994 until 1996.
She holds a MA degree from The American University in Broadcast Journalism and a MA in Communications from The Lindenwood Colleges in St. Louis, Missouri. In April 2009 she attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior Executive Program at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts.
She speaks Russian and Albanian.
She is married and is a resident of Alexandria, Virginia.
