United States Embassy Hosts Young Student Art Contest – “Respect and Diversity through Art”
Tirana: The United States Embassy is launching a nationwide art contest entitled, “Respect and Diversity Through Art” from November 1st through December 15th. Youth 10 to 18 years of age are encouraged to submit original, unframed drawings and paintings on the theme of respect and diversity. This art contest celebrates diversity and interfaith and intercultural cooperation in Albania. Albania’s long tradition of tolerance and respect for diversity are themes that should be reflected in the artistic submissions.
Entries will be accepted at the U.S. Embassy Consular entrance gate until 5:00 pm on December 15, 2009. Entries will also be accepted by courier if addressed to the U.S. Embassy Consular Section, Rruga e Elbasanit No. 103, Tirana, Albania, and received before the deadline. The name, age, school, and contact telephone number of the artist must be identified on each entry. There is a limit of one entry per student. Entries will be judged based on their creativity, expression and relevance to the topic of respect and diversity. The Embassy will retain the artwork for display; it will not be returned to the artist. Please only submit art which is 60 by 90 cm or less in size.
Winning entries will be displayed within the U.S. Embassy for a designated period of time. The winning artists will be invited for a tour of the Embassy, an introduction to the American Ambassador and a showing of the “Embassy in Art Collection” currently on display at the Ambassador’s Residence. Entries will be judged for ages 10 through 14 years of age and for 15 years of age to 18 years of age. Winners will be contacted by phone, email or fax by December 17, 2009.
