U.S. Embassy Offers Training in Undercover Policing Techniques to the State Police Special Operations Forces (August 31, 2006)

The U.S. Embassy, through its International Criminal Investigative Training and Assistance Program (ICITAP), offered four days of training in undercover policing techniques to members of the Special Operations Sector of the Organized Crime Directorate of the Albanian State Police from August 28 to 31. The training was offered by two instructors from the DEA office in Rome and focused on the effective conduct of undercover policing operations, including interviewing methods, surveillance techniques, and management of confidential sources. Twenty-three agents and their commanders received this training.

During the closing ceremony at the State Police Academy, Chargé d’Affaires Stephen Cristina underscored the importance of the training in the country’s efforts to effectively combat organized crime and corruption. The State Police Director General Bajram Ibraj also wished the graduates success in their careers.
