U.S. Embassy welcomes agreement between the Majority and the Opposition  (August 31, 2006)

The Embassy of the United States of America welcomes the announcement that members of the majority and the opposition have reached an agreement on important issues related to the future of Albania’s democratic institutions. Rapid implementation of these understandings is vital.

It is our hope that this agreement will serve as a good first step toward electoral reform, in accordance with OSCE and ODIHR recommendations, as well as free and fair local elections.
